Counselling in Yorkshire & the Humber

PCAyorks is a good place to start if you are looking for person-centred counselling / client-centred therapy (CCT) in the Yorkshire & the Humber region. We can refer you to counsellors/therapists who are trained in - and committed to - the person-centred approach. Just email us for more information.

If you are a counsellor / therapist seeking referrals (or looking to network with others in the region) - then you've also come to the right place. Email us for details about how to join the network.

And if you run (or are looking for) counselling courses in the region, we would also like to hear from you. For prospective students/trainees, we can help you find which courses practice what they preach, so far as applying the person-centred approach is concerned. Course administrators may also be interested in linking in with the network - we can help by promoting your courses through this site and through our extensive email network. Email us for more details.

La Jolla Program

LA JOLLA PROGRAM UK
A project of the Center for Studies of the Person,
La Jolla, California, USA.
PERSON-CENTRED SELF DISCOVERY AND PERSONAL GROWTH
27th SEPTEMBER – 3rd OCTOBER 2009
NORWICH, NORFOLK.

The Center for Studies of the Person was founded by Carl Rogers and his colleagues in the 1970s. Rogers was personally involved in the development and establishment of the La Jolla Program. The Program provides an opportunity to explore personal and professional relationships in a person-centred community. It is an interactive experience, an opportunity to listen and be listened to and develop new levels of communication. Rogers believed that the intensive group experience was a profoundly significant vehicle, which could lead to deep and significant changes in persons, institutions, racial and international tensions and in the values and philosophies of mankind.

The facilitators will be Will Stillwell and Keddie Burrows. Will, who was a colleague of Carl Rogers, works in organisations as coach to individuals, facilitator to groups and mediator in conflict situations. He has served on the faculty of several American universities. Keddie works as a psychological specialist to developmentally disabled people for whom the regular health system has not worked well. She has a long professional history to back up her unique gift of being herself with others.

The venue will be at the University of East Anglia. Numbers will be limited to a maximum of 24 participants, so early booking is advisable.

Cost: Resident Single £525 Double £630 (with double bed.)
Non-resident £265. All rooms are en-suite with TV, hairdryer, alarm clock and tea/coffee making facilities.

Links to uploaded documents

I'm afraid a number of the documents that were uploaded and linked from this blog are not currently available. It will take some time to reupload these documents and change the links but in the meantime if you're looking for anything in particular just leave a comment or mail us (see CONTACT US at the top of the sidebar).

Over the coming months we hope to thoroughly overhaul the PCAYORKS blog and at least return it to its former 'glory' (debatable, i know...)
